Atascadero

Located in the heart of the Central Coast, Atascadero is halfway between San Francisco and Los Angeles. Atascadero's central location provides easy access to the local wine region, coastal beaches and back roads for bicycling or touring. Compared to countywide figures, Atascadero proportionately has fewer low-income households, more middle-income households, and a comparable proportion of higher-income households. The median household income is high for the county, but comparable to statewide figures, there are more people to support in each household than is typical for the county and the state. According to the last census, Atascadero is a solid middle-income community with a poverty rate far below county and state averages. Compared to countywide age distribution, Atascadero has younger middle-aged adults and children, reflecting a strong family-oriented community.
